About the Clery Act

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), 20 USC § 1092(f), requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and meet certain basic requirements for handling incidents of missing students, sexual violence and emergency situations.

The Clery Act has been developed based on foundations from multiple programs and disciplines to provide a comprehensive view of campus safety. As a result, compliance requires consulting multiple sources of guidance and you will find them here. Information about the Higher Education Act’s related campus fire safety requirements is also here. Questions? E-Mail us at cleryquestions@safecampuses.biz for help.
