Melissa Lucchesi has spent over 20 years in the trauma field. She has worked both in local and national victim services and training, including training law enforcement, universities, healthcare workers and others. Melissa previously worked for Security On Campus, Inc. where she trained on the Clery Act and Title IX, sat on subject matter expert panels, a White House Roundtable on violence against women and children, and helped co-write an update to the Campus Sexual Assault Victims’ Bill of Rights.
For the past 5 years, Melissa has supported trauma survivors in the birth space as a trauma-informed birth worker. She has trained medical and other perinatal professionals on trauma in the prenatal and birth space, and is a maternal mental health coach. She co-created and presents Trauma-Informed Lens Yoga, training yoga instructors on trauma and best practices for teaching all public yoga classes in a trauma-informed way. Her passion and drive is seeking a world where everyone understands and operates from a trauma-informed lens, which in turn is safer for all people.
As a rape survivor herself who knows the challenges of understanding options on campus after trauma, Melissa uses her personal experience to add a human piece to her extensive professional background. She is deeply passionate about victims’ rights and supporting survivors on campus as they navigate the daunting process and find options and support in the wake of trauma.
