Daniel Dusseau is a distinguished law enforcement veteran with a career spanning 33 years, marked by unwavering dedication and significant achievements. Beginning his service with the Prince George’s County Police Department (Maryland), Daniel spent twenty-one years immersed in various roles within one of the largest and most dynamic police agencies in the United States. His tenure encompassed a diverse array of responsibilities, from frontline patrol duties to supervising critical investigations, including cases of robbery, rape, homicide, and police misconduct.
In 2010, Daniel embarked on a new chapter in his career as the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), the largest college in Virginia and one of the largest in the U.S. Tasked with reconfiguring the college’s security apparatus following a critical incident, Daniel orchestrated a transformative shift toward centralized operations. Under his stewardship, NOVA’s police department evolved into a beacon of professionalism and approachability, achieving a remarkable 90% reduction in crime and fostering a culture of safety across its six campuses spanning four jurisdictions.
Transitioning from active duty in 2022, he founded Dusseau Solutions, a consultancy dedicated to enhancing safety protocols in schools, houses of worship, and businesses by providing customized assessments and recommendations designed to improve the security and safety culture.
Daniel’s exemplary leadership has garnered widespread recognition, including the prestigious Campus Safety Magazine Police Chief/Director of the Year award in 2014 and the Virginia Governor’s Award for Administrative Excellence in 2018.
In acknowledgment of his enduring impact, Daniel was bestowed with emeritus status in 2023 for his meritorious contributions to Northern Virginia Community College.
